‘Residual’ Controller Fix Update Released on iOS, Android Pre-Registrations Now Open Ahead of October Launch

A few weeks back developer OrangePixel released their newest game on mobile called Residual. This is a roguelike survival game where you play as a pilot who crash lands on a procedurally generated planet, filled with all sorts of crazy creatures and biomes. A snarky AI bot joins your journey as you explore each planet with the goal of discovering items and solving puzzles in an effort to repair your ship and get the heck out of there. Residual is a bit unique in that there’s no direct combat in the game, though there are certainly ways you can harm any baddies that come your way and of course there are plenty of ways harm can befall you, so you definitely need to proceed with caution. Here is the game’s most recent trailer which should give you a pretty good idea of what’s in store.

Anyway, as I said Residual launched on iOS a few weeks back with one of its core features being physical controller support, since this is a game that was originally born on platforms with physical controls. However, for whatever reason the controller support was broken in the release version of the game, despite working in the test builds. OrangePixel has finally been able to get to the bottom of it and an update today fixes the broken controller functionality. In addition to that, the Android version that was said to launch within weeks of the iOS release is indeed going to hit that mark and has been put up for pre-registration on the Google Play Store. So if you’re on iOS and have been waiting for controllers to work check out the latest update, and if you’re on Android and have been just waiting to get your hands on Residual at all, be sure to pre-register for the game’s Android launch next month.
