Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 7th, 2022. In today’s article, we’ve got more news than anything else. That’s a rarity! But it’s mostly because there just isn’t much going on in terms of new releases and sales. Just one new game, Kaichu: The Kaiju Dating Sim, and a small list of new sales to check out. That’s just how Wednesdays are sometimes. Let’s get to it!

NISA Showcase 2022 Recap

The NISA Showcase 2022 just aired, and NIS America had four new game localization announcements. All four games are coming to Switch as well with nice limited editions, including one I’ve been waiting a very long time finally play. Let’s get into them. GrimGrimoire OnceMore is a remaster of the Vanillaware PS2 classic. I love Vanillware games, but this is one I’ve yet to play. The remaster will arrive with a slew of improvements and enhancements next year on Nintendo Switch. Monster Menu: The Scavenger’s Cookbook is a new game from NIS in Japan that blends in dungeon survival with strategy RPG elements. It looks like it is building on the visual style in Disgaea 6, which has me a bit concerned for the Switch port, but it looks like a fun time.

Void Terrarium 2 is a sequel to the roguelike RPG. This one builds on the first game with new features and skills among other changes. I quite enjoyed the first game, so will be checking this one out next year. The final new game announcement is a surprising one. Detective mystery game Process of Elimination is coming to the West next year following its 2021 release in Japan. This game follows 14 detectives on a remote island featuring adventure and investigation gameplay segments. NIS America rarely localizes games like these from NIS in Japan, so I’m glad to see this one come over.

While I was hoping to see Disgaea 7, four new localization announcements for Switch made it a great showcase. You can watch the whole video recap with new gameplay from previously-announced games as well.

New Releases

Kaichu: The Kaiju Dating Sim ($9.99)

Okay, even in the case that this doesn’t work as a game, the concept alone is almost worth the ten bucks. You play as Gigachu, a giant monster looking for love. You’ll meet six other giant monsters that can be romanced, and you’ll have to figure out the best way to woo each of them. Kaiju aren’t much for talking, but there are reporters who will describe each of the scenes, allowing you to get a feel for what each potential candidate likes or dislikes. You’ll go on dates to landmarks in twenty-four different locations, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some collateral damage. Yes, there is smooching. Giant monster smooching. I feel like my whole career as a games critic has been leading up to this moment.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

Well, as I said, there isn’t a lot of action in today’s inbox. The Darkside Detective is at a new low price, and that is a fun adventure game. There’s a bit more happening in the outbox with some of Circle Entertainment’s sales wrapping up, so make sure you have a look at that list on your way out.

That’s all for today, friends. Tomorrow is Thursday, so we’ll have a bunch of new releases to look at. It seems at the moment to be a marginally smaller batch than the last couple of weeks, but it’s still easily over a dozen new games. There will be summaries for all of them, plus whatever sales and major news items roll in over the course of the day. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
